"New Mercy"
When dark the night with endless fight,
And strength is drained away,
No one to blame a sad old game,
And have no words to say,
Depression growls with demons foul,
And no hope in sight,
And rank old fear and no one here,
To help me do what’s right.
Just hold on the whisper comes,
The Spirit won’t let go,
The words in red, what Jesus said,
He brings to mind you know.
I’m with you now and soon somehow,
That darkness strong must leave,
He fought it too and so will you,
But God’s grace brought reprieve.
The morning dawns with all its yawns,
The world wakes up again,
But all I see is mercy free,
For now and where I’ve been.
Get up and go and never slow,
We get just what we need,
To overcome and make our run,
To plant a righteous seed.
Submit it all to Jesus’ call,
A very present grace,
The devil’s press is less and less,
When we seek Jesus’ face.
“The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
The great anchor of our hope and security spring from an ongoing revelation of God’s lovingkindness. The consistency is what matters the most. Sporadic, unpredictable love is not love at all. And unfortunately people settle for it because that’s the best they think they can get. But the Lord is faithful and His love is unchanging. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever, and every new day brings fresh mercy.
Lord, help us celebrate Your faithfulness, in Jesus’ name.
