"No Tears"

I’m thinking of my mother,

Who first shared Christ with me,

Loved me like no other,

An encourager, you see.

I’m thinking of my father,

Work was what he taught,

He saw  lazy was a bother,

Excuses went for naught.

I’m thinking of my sister,

Her joy and love for dance,

Can’t say how much I’ve missed her,

Love to talk, just one more chance.

I’m thinking of my cowboy friend,

So close for many years,

So suddenly and then the end,

In spite of prayers and tears.

And one after another,

To whom we’ve said good-bye,

And let me tell you, brother,

At times too sad to cry.

But Jesus is the reason,

Our grief is filled with hope,

In every single season,

He gives us grace to cope.

There in heaven’s glory,

When our earthly lives are through,

The never-ending story,

No end to all we’ll do.

And He will wipe the tears away,

All death and sorrow gone,

And we will hear the Savior say,

You are finally home.

“And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4, NAS)

This is the great promise of God’s prophetic word. The day will come will every knee bows and every tongue confesses Jesus as Lord. All evil ends and every tear is wiped away. Death itself is abolished, and God reigns supremely over all. All that Jesus died to accomplish is done, and so will we ever be with the Lord. It is the living hope of every Christian.

Lord, fill our hearts with hope, in Jesus’ name.
