"Now"
It felt like something falling down,
From far above the sky,
And like a river splashing ‘round,
Blown by winds so high.
It felt like healing flame so near,
Relieving deepest pain,
Clear to us that God was near,
To bless us with His reign.
And more than all that’s hoped for,
And every dream come true,
To show to us what’s in store,
And what we’re called to do.
And filled with God’s own power,
We rise to give Him praise,
And in this final hour,
His Good News banner raise.
And no we don’t feel worthy,
But that’s beside the point,
And God seems in a hurry,
And ne’er will disappoint.
To speak His Word with boldness,
With truth and Spirit real,
And drive out human coldness,
And all so deeply feel.
Don’t be the one to doubt it,
Our God is on the move,
And we will sing and shout it,
His miracles will prove,
That this is His great harvest,
And we’re His partners, too,
And even to the farthest,
His invitation’s true.
Till one and all are gathered,
And every knee will bow,
Despite the devil’s hazard,
And it all starts right now.
“Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music in your heart to the Lord.” (Ephesians 5:18-19, NLV)
No matter the competing influence, it’s the Spirit’s control that we should seek. When we’re being filled with the Spirit it’s an ongoing glorification of Jesus. Our heart music is to magnify Him, and we are motivated to love Christ so passionately the world gets the overflow. The Spirit-filled life is a celebration of worship that becomes a relatable witness in the world. We are empowered to show and say it, and unite with every generation of witnesses who went before.
Lord, help us faithfully cooperate with Your Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
