"Revival"
I believe in the revival,
That is sweeping ‘cross our land,
Charlie’s death ignited,
Countless folks to take a stand.
The young by many thousands,
Are running to the Lord,
And many who were silent,
Hold high the Spirit’s sword.
And I am now an oldster,
Tenured long in my belief,
But I am praising Jesus,
For this move that brings relief,
From the burdens of addiction,
So much hurt and so much pain,
When the power of the Spirit,
Does it time and time again.
Passion for the Scripture,
For the truth that sets us free,
A turn to moral living,
And the way our lives should be.
Holiness and joyfulness,
The party of the saved,
And each a special part of it,
And on His hands engraved,
The name of every sinner,
Who comes home to the light,
From the lost He makes a winner,
As they turn to all that’s right.
Ad the impact is forever,
And the movement changes all,
Who humbly turn to Jesus,
And on His name they call.
None can stop the fire,
None can quench the flame,
When the Spirit’s given precedence,
To lift up Jesus’ name.
So welcome the revival,
And awake to this new day,
And praise the name of Jesus,
Is what we have to say.
“Won’t You revive us again, so Your people can rejoice in You? Show us Your unfailing love, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation.” (Psalm 85:6-7)
The Psalmist cries out to the Lord a prayer for revival. The word translated “revive” is used in scripture to be healed, to preserve, to convey that an object is safe, to recover and to repair. The Holy Spirit is and has always been the author of revival. He is the part of God who interacts with us personally to accomplish these things. Revival happens wherever and whenever people humble themselves and ask God to have His way. Humility is the grace-trigger. The recent move of the Spirit triggered by Charlie Kirk’s death shows us these things are still possible in this dark world. One more thing. When I first experienced God’s grace along with a host of other young people in the Jesus Movement many tenured Christians discredited what God was doing. They called it emotionalism and said it was not real. I am now one of those older Christians, and I wholeheartedly praise God for what He is doing and support it! I hope you will, too.
Lord, revive us again, in Jesus’ name.
