"Secret-Free"
We hide and think that no one sees,
To run from God, ourselves to please,
Secrets kept, a sad disease,
Keep others at arm’s length.
Men love darkness, not the light,
Often scoff at what is right,
But who they are is hid from sight,
So drained of moral strength.
God says, come, I’ll give you grace,
Pardon if we seek His face,
The Lord knows all about our case,
So run into the light.
The Lord rewards transparency,
Great blessing follows honesty,
It’s all about humility,
And turning to what’s right.
So no more secrets that make you sick,
Get rid of them and make it quick,
Every habit you can kick,
If Jesus sets you free.
It’s far too long you stayed away,
And no excuse to be that way,
Now is the time, confess today,
Find who you’re meant to be.
“But if we confess our sins to Him, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” (1 John 1:9, NLT)
If we confess means we have a choice. When God shows us our sin, we can turn to Him or away from Him. Far too many of us, even as believers, have unconfessed sin in our lives that become secrets we let no one know. To confess means to acknowledge, admit, concede and agree. In other words we call it what God calls it and ask Him to both forgive and free us. If necessary we confess it to another person or persons who are trustworthy enough to neither excuse or judge us. In any case, transparency breaks the power of secrecy, and there is great freedom in the light. Go there.
Lord, help us agree with You, in Jesus’ name.
