"Pilgrim"
I am a fellow pilgrim,
A travelin’ through life’s storm,
Pray through the day and find the way,
To what God calls our norm.
And the farther that I go I see,
It’s different from the rest,
The world’s pursuits are in cahoots,
With the devil’s sordid mess.
It is not love it’s lustful,
Love of money takes God’s place,
And all you see deceived to be,
Stolen from the race.
So here’s what I’m suggesting,
To believers everywhere,
With spirits strong we fight the wrong,
Down on our knees in prayer.
To bind all to God’s very best,
And loose them from what’s wrong,
In Jesus’ name and for His fame,
‘Cause all to Him belong.
And in the end the victory,
That Christ bought at the cross,
Will win out and with out doubt,
Restores to Him what’s lost.
“With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:18, NAS)
Never under estimate the power of prayer when the spiritual battle is fierce. After Paul described all the spiritual armor and the need to be fully clothed for the battle against evil, he tells the Ephesian church to pray always “in the Spirit.” Praying in the Spirit means we are empowered and led by the Holy Spirit as we pray. This engagement goes far beyond merely reciting prayer requests to God, but involves listening to what the Lord is saying to us about these needs. Then, as the Spirit leads us, we act and speak strategically. Fully victory is coming, but the battles must be fought now, in Jesus’ name.
Lord, help us to pray in the Spirit, in Jesus’ name.
