"Rodeo Time"

Rodeo time is nearly here,

We look forward all the year,

To see the riders without fear,

Let’s rodeo, old son.

They’ll rope and ride and race and try,

To draw a check if they score high,

And if they don’t, well, it’s good-bye,

And chalk it up to fun.

One thing that I love the most,

Is how they pray, see God as host,

And pledge the flag, no brag or boast,

A family time for all.

Shows the kids the way to be,

Land of the brave and we’re still free,

In God we trust, our firm decree,

A real deal cowboy call.

So come on out and see the show,

The horseback boys are there, you know,

That cowboy wind is sure to blow,

And you won’t miss a thing.

Whoop and spur and clap out loud,

What they do will make you proud,

To be there with the cowboy crowd,

Good memories it will bring.

“He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every man who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor- this is the gift of God.” (Proverbs 3:11-13, NAS)

Having a holistic view of life’s endeavors is a great gift from God. Working and playing and worshipping creates a rhythm to life that keeps us holy and healthy. We all have our favorite activities, sports, recreation, and hobbies, and they can serve an important purpose- to keep us balanced and peaceful. Our love for rodeo and the cowboy way is like that. We want what we do to honor God, and this becomes another opportunity to do so while enjoying something we love.

Lord, help us honor You in everything we enjoy, in Jesus’ name.
