"Then Time Flew"
They handed me my baby boy,
No bigger than a nursery toy,
And my heart was filled with joy,
I blinked and then time flew.
Grandkids, many, whom I love,
No doubt they’re gifts from up above,
They do what I’ve scarce heard of,
Time flies toward something new.
Dad left first then Mama, too,
Sister gone and friends too few,
If I let it, makes me blue,
I blinked and sadness grew.
Met her when the time was right,
And I loved her at first sight,
Fills my life with love and light,
And all along I knew,
That I must grab hold of the day,
Enjoy it or it gets away,
Time for worship, work and play,
The wisest thing to do.
Give away the love we got,
The Savior gives us all a lot,
Content when blessed and when we’re not,
Time didn’t wait, it flew.
And here I am, I ‘m young no more,
Trusting God with every door,
One day closer to that shore,
Where He makes all things new.
Life speeds by no matter what,
Defined not by the things you’ve got,
But rather when you give a lot,
It matters what we do.
“Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:15-16, NAS)
Evil is still with us, and will be until Jesus returns. Until then we are to redeem or “make the most of” our time. If we are not proactive about this times simply gets aways from us. We wake up and years have passed and we are not closer to our God-given goals. Why? Someone has said that our success in hidden in our daily schedule. If you know what God is calling you to do, don’t wait until the whole thing is dropped in your lap. Start now, were you are with what you have and get moving.
Lord, teach us to start now, in Jesus’ name.
