"Safe Place"

There is a place, safe from the race,

I often dare to go,

And when I do, I’m telling you,

There’s peace for me I know.

To cowboy strong where I belong,

I need to seek His face,

Because my best won’t pass the test,

Without His steady grace.

Life bucks hard and soon we’re scarred,

By every twist and turn,

But God has said, in words writ red,

It’s so our dross will burn.

And then His peace will weights release,

And burdens all must go,

His grace enough, though storms get rough,

Through every high and low.

The shelter there, of God’s great care.

The shield of faith is real,

His shadow cast and power vast,

His Spirit we can feel.

God is near, in fact right here,

As close as air we breathe,

Offers rest and all His best,

No doubt we can receive.

So find that place, receive His grace,

The Lord knocks at the door,

New life awaits, so get a taste,

He wants to bless us more.

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” (Psalm 91:1, NLT)

This verse is a beautiful testimony of the Psalmist who found rest in God’s presence. One of the most wonderful things about knowing Jesus is that He gives us full access to the Father. The way is open and the opportunity is there to come boldly to the throne of grace in time of need. When we need Him the most He is the most accessible. And this is because of Jesus who became our intercessor. We do not find God’s shadow based on any real or imagined merit. We are invited to this place of safety through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name the shadow is real and the security is unshakable. Find it.

Lord, help us find rest in Your shadow, in Jesus’ name.
