"Secrets"

The Spirit knows the secrets,

Of what God has in store,

Things we can’t imagine,

Based on what we’ve known before.

Never seen by human eye,

Nor dreamed of by the mind,

Nothing known by flesh and blood,

Or by someone’s search and find.

But the Spirit lets the hungry know,

He speaks to humble hearts,

Revealing what the Lord will do,

How He finishes His starts.

By faith the revelation,

In your knower lets you know,

And the Spirit’s faithful,

To make His wisdom flow.

To hear Him speak a living Word,

That brings healing, truth and power,

Feeds and leads and intercedes,

Blessed in our quiet hour.

Inspired it comes to energize,

And give prophetic word,

And everything we need to know,

Is there when we have heard.

So let the secrets of the Lord,

Become your daily bread,

And live by faith in what He says,

And everything He’s said.

“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man, all that God has prepared for those who love Him. For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10, NAS)

Just knowing the Bible is not enough. Yes it is God’s inspired word, and yes it is authoritative in our lives as Christian believers. But the Holy Spirit shows us how to interpret and apply what the Scriptures tell us. We need that personal revelation so that we will fulfill our personal calling accompanied by the Spirit’s gifts. We must be led and energized by the Spirit to carry out what the Bible tell s us. Any other way reduces us to a life of frustrating self-effort. The Lord wants to surprise us with His secrets, planned for us to experience.

Lord, speak and show to us Your secrets, in Jesus’ name.
