"Time's Flow"

Time’s river ever-flowing,

The weeks and months and years,

Our memories ever-growing,

Full of laughter and some tears.

The flower of youth that once grew,

With its bloom and hope and scent,

Gave way to wind that then blew,

Into seasons where we went.

Time’s flow uninterrupted,

We travel and we learn,

To leave what’s been corrupted,

And know which bridge to burn.

Love sweetens our existence,

Precious moments in our grip,

But there is no resistance,

That can stop time’s onward slip.

It’s given, then it moves along,

We are stewards of the day,

To fill with what is right, not wrong,

In all we do and say.

Live as the solution,

For the problems that you see,

Cast out all confusion,

With peace your referee.

Don’t waste it with complaining,

Rather fill with thankfulness,

No matter if it’s raining,

There’s sunshine past the test.

And if the Good Lord blesses,

With an extension of your age,

And with His strength caresses,

Even in your later days,

Make sure you ride it wisely,

‘Fore passing the baton,

And always keep it lively,

Until your time is gone.

Spin and gallop to the finish line,

And then go right on through,

No regrets and ne’er a whine,

‘Cause God is calling you.

“So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12, NAS)

Living life God’s way maximizes rather than wastes our days. Jesus came to give us super-abundant life, but we must be intentional about receiving and walking in it. It’s all about learning to consistently cooperate with the grace that saves, heals, and empowers us. This power, the Bible says, is the same that raised Jesus from the dead and it now lives within us. It is the power of His presence, the Holy Spirit. The Spirit makes the difference in thriving rather than mere surviving. He is the Spirit of wisdom who will help us live wisely and redeem the time.

Lord, help us to number our days, in Jesus’ name.
