"So Much"
So much day to day I’d like to say,
When I study all that’s wrong,
I wonder how it got this way,
Don’t feel that I belong,
To this world high-tech, an immoral wreck,
Where the love has now grown cold,
Sometimes I think, oh what the heck,
It’s ‘cause you’re gettin’ old.
But the Spirit within, and my Jesus kin,
Still have a role to play,
And now’s the time that we begin,
To seek the Lord and pray,
Humbly to ask Jesus to task,
What He wants us to do,
No doubt the world’s lies to unmask,
To speak in love what’s true.
Walking by faith, by satan unscathed,
We’ll fight with armor on,
The Spirit will our efforts bathe,
’Til our time on earth is gone.
Rise up and see what we can be,
When used by God’s great hand,
The harvest that we soon shall see,
Will spread across the land.
“He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send more workers into His fields.” (Matthew 9:37-38, NLT)
Jesus is the Lord of the harvest. We do not take Jesus to anyone because He is already there with them. He is speaking to them by His Spirit, preparing their hearts to receive the truth that we bring to them in His name. We go prayerfully, because there is always more need than messengers. We are praying for the Lord to raise up, inspire and energize the witnesses who will boldly engage the harvest. Jesus described the shepherd-less sheep as confused and helpless. We bring them the offer of God’s salvation. It’s time we get on with it.
Lord, send the workers into Your harvest field, in Jesus’ name.
