"Somewhere"
The train that leads to nowhere,
Is the one that’s going fast,
It offers this world’s pleasures,
But none of these will last.
And when at last you get there,
You wonder what you thought,
When you boarded with a ticket,
That you never even bought.
A life that’s going somewhere,
Unlike that speeding train,
Has a slower, even pace,
But offers lasting gain.
It can be started anywhere,
From the lowest to the high,
Open to all those who care,
And want at least to try,
To team up with their Maker,
And find the way that’s right,
Get shut of every faker,
And walk strong in the light.
And, yes, the way is narrow,
All your baggage has to drop,
But if His eye is on the sparrow,
He can make your chaos stop.
So choose the way ‘cause you can choose,
Which way you want to go,
But do it wisely else you lose,
The life of love you know.
Yes, die to live the only way,
You have to lose to win,
In all you do and all you say,
A new life can begin.
“By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going to a place which he was to receive for an inheritance; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.” (Hebrews 11:8, NAS)
God is calling all of us just as He called Abraham. And just as Abraham was promised an inheritance we too are promised a future by the Lord. Abraham responded appropriately to God’s call by leaving to go somewhere, without knowing where that somewhere was going to be. He let God fill in that blank and in the meantime took action. We are on a need to know basis with God but typically want to know more than God will show us. That’s why faith is so important. Faith makes us move in the direction of God’s somewhere with a willingness going anywhere He requires to get there. Let us go.
Lord, teach us to follow You in faith to the future somewhere of your will, in Jesus’ name.
