"Stand Up"
Ain’t backing up, ain’t laying down,
Because we’ve gone too far,
Focused on the heavenly crown,
Won’t leave that door ajar.
But slam it shut and keep it closed,
And nevermore give place,
To all that satan e’er disclosed,
Competing with God’s grace.
Darkness rules the culture here,
We knew it would get worse,
With our redemption drawing near,
To break the dreaded curse.
And learned men who scornful sit,
Make fun of what is true,
Fooled by their nonsense, not a whit,
Or awful things they do.
Perversions of the holiest,
Nothing sacred in their eyes,
Prideful toward the lowliest,
With form that power denies.
So stand up, brother, take your stand,
And sister, you stand, too,
For in the moment God has planned,
It’s what the saved should do.
“For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ: whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is their shame- who set their minds on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 3:18-20, NKJV)
The lines between light and darkness are being drawn, not by those who want to debate and argue, but by the Lord HImself. His Word tells us things become increasingly darker as the age draws to a close. This simply means we much be vigilant and alert regarding how we conduct ourselves. We walk by the Spirit, who helps us to avoid compromise and live in sync with God’s love, life and will. The light will shine most brightly through us when we do.
Lord, help us stand up for You and all that is right, in Jesus’ name.
