"Tell It"
Old stories clearly shaped my life,
‘Bout huntin’ dogs and hunts,
Great moments from the world of sports,
Home runs, touchdowns, punts.
Stories from my Dad at way,
Way back in World War II,
Fought under Patton all the way,
Till V-day it is true.
Cowboy stories since a child,
Some I lived and saw,
Roping cows and horseback wrecks,
And when they cut a plug of chaw.
And all those Bible stories,
I’ve known ‘em, always knew,
Noah, Daniel, Moses, Paul,
And all the rest so true.
But the greatest story of ‘em all,
Is the one where Jesus died,
Lay down His life and rose again,
And in you I’ll confide,
That story never can grow old,
‘Cause it brings life anew,
No matter the re-telling,
That’s just what it will do.
For all who do receive it,
It brings authority,
The right to be a child of God,
And change our destiny.
And the greatest story we can share,
Is what He’s done for us,
Amazing grace is ours indeed,
We’re thankful to discuss.
The testimony of the one,
Whose soul has been set free,
Is used by God to save the lost,
Just try it and you’ll see.
Tell the story in your words,
And every time you can,
They need to hear about His love,
His power and His plan.
“But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn- not with physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.” (John 1:12-13, NLT)
We all need a new life. That’s what everyone is looking for whether they realize it or not. Some know but won’t admit it. And there is nothing in this world that will fill that need except Jesus Christ. When we believe in Him, accept Him, and surrender our lives to Him something happens deep within us. It’s a supernatural awakening and birth, effected by the Holy Spirit Himself. And God has ordained to use the verbal sharing of the story as the primary means of His grace. Our is a singularly audible faith, that is, it is generated by hearing the truth. That’s why telling our story of grace is so important. You never know when it’s your testimony that will make the difference. Tell it.
Lord, help us tell the story of Your grace, in Jesus’ name.
