"Walk and Talk"

There’s those who talk but do not walk,

The way God says we should,

Their words are cheap ‘cause they don’t keep,

The lifestyle that they could.

And that’s too bad because they’ve had,

The chance to show the way,

But fail to live and always give,

A witness that’s okay.

We walk the walk so that our talk,

Means what it’s s’posed to mean,

A strong impact built on the fact,

We live a life that’s clean.

Not so we judge, but do not budge,

When compromise comes ‘round,

Strong as can be, by grace you see,

And on the right side found.

Then verbally and out loudly,

We tell to all the news,

Jesus saves and His death gave,

New birth to those who choose,

To follow Him, not selfish whim,

And to His cause be true,

Be grace we stand and always can,

Do what He says to do.

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise you are only fooling yourselves.” (James 1:22, NLT)

Becoming a “word-doer” does not mean we will ever be perfect. But it does mean that we take seriously what the Lord is calling us to actually do in cooperation with His Spirit. It’s one thing to hear the Word and agree with it, but quite another to sincerely ask the Lord to help us live it out. But that’s exactly what is required of true Jesus-followers. We learn to live a life that is being transformed by God’s grace and power, and then verbally communicate the truth of it anytime we are given opportunity. it’s not one or the other, but both-and. Walk it and talk it, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, help us to verbalize our faith effectively because we consistently live it out day to day, in Jesus’ name.
