"Endure"
She wept aloud and asked me why,
Things happen like they do,
Her firstborn baby ‘bout to die,
Prayed to the end it’s true.
The saddest service ever led,
The coffin two feet long,
Can’t remember what I said,
Just prayed it was not wrong.
Time went by I moved away,
But later got the news,
They had five kids and all okay,
Their story I can use,
To show that though the heartbreak sad,
On their darkest, deadly day,
God helped them overcome the bad,
So that they can say,
Praise to the Lord who gives us grace,
Though there’s weeping in the night,
If we will only seek His face,
There’s joy come morning light.
Remember Job and in the end,
God’s tenderness came through,
The richest blessings He will send,
If we endure, it’s true.
“Sing to the Lord, all you godly ones! Praise His holy name. For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:4-5, NLT)
Our lives are defined by the love of God. But as great as it is, the love does not shield us from every tragedy. When we face such trials the presence of the Lord becomes our anchor. He gives us the grace we need to endure and ultimately overcome every heartbreak, no matter how severe. The testimony of the joyous believer is not that they were untouched by trouble, but that the Lord brought them through. Thank God for morning joy!
Lord, help us overcome every heartbreak, in Jesus’ name.
