"Walkin'"

It’s walkin’ worthy of your callin’,

So when folks look at you,

They see an advertisement,

Of Jesus Christ it’s true.

It’s walkin’ as a child of light,

The darkness put away,

Embracing love and holiness,

Transparent as the day.

It’s walkin’ in forgiveness,

Never let the sun go down,

Unless that debt is cancelled,

Keeps the devil off your ground.

It’s walkin’ in God’s wisdom,

Seekin’ truth in all you do,

It’s findin’ out the will of God,

And applying what is true.

It’s walkin’ in the Spirit,

With His presence always filled,

Praising Him in everything,

With egotism killed.

It’s walkin’ life by faith, not sight,

It’s trusting Him with care,

It’s giving up anxiety,

Because you know He’s there.

It’s all these things and so much more,

When we walk and do not stray,

But if it’s by the Spirit,

He’ll always show the way.

And God has called each one of us,

To stand and walk the walk,

So we can make an impact,

When we talk the talk.

Yes, He walks with me and talks with me,

And tells me I am His own,

And because I am and in God’s fam,

I’ll walk and never roam.

“Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called.” (Ephesians 4:1, NAS)
We are not worthy of God’s calling but God makes us worthy. He calls and graces us to fulfill His calling at the same time. It’s all a very wonderful gift. Paul’s fatherly counsel is to walk in such a way as to show we appreciate what God has done. Then He can use us as His advertisement. He can point to us and say, “Look! That’s what my grace does for you!” Walking worthy means we walk the walk so we can impactfully talk the talk.

Lord, help us to walk worthy of Your calling, in Jesus’ name.
