"Wet"
When the world turns to water,
After lots and lots of dry,
The town folk go to whining,
The rain can make ‘em cry.
But not here in the country,
We praise the Lord for wet,
Makes the grass green for the cattle,
And the horses, too, you bet.
And, sure, it can get muddy,
Put that four wheel drive in gear,
The rain gauge showed it did some good,
When it finally got here.
That moisture is a blessing,
We believe the Good Lord sent,
Don’t listen to those who complain,
Or when they want to vent.
Guess it rained out their picnic,
Or a good ball game or two,
But compared to all the benefit,
It’s great, I’m telling you.
And especially in Texas,
We understand a drought,
When everything gets crispy,
And that old heat dries us out.
So praise the Lord for thunder,
Send us lightning and some wind,
Let the rain sing on that old tin roof,
And wet the land again.
And when the storm is over,
And the world’s had its drink,
Check and see how much we got,
Twas a two inch rain, I think.
“In that way, you will be acting like true children of your Father in heaven. Fore He gives His sunlight to both the evil and the good, and He sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.” (Matthew 5:45, NLT)
The Lord sends both sunlight and rain, according to Jesus. And Jesus used both to illustrate God’s love. he points out that God blesses people who do not love or acknowledge Him. He says anybody can love those who love them, but we’re really doing something when we love our enemies. That’s when we’re acting like true children of God. Isn’t it interesting that rain is a blessing that God gives to people who don’t praise Him? We are those who do, in Jesus’ name.
Lord, help us appreciate the rain, and every blessing You give, in Jesus’ name.
