"Story"
With each of us a story,
Unfolding day by day,
Conception clear to glory,
If God makes us okay.
Chapters dark and dismal,
When we ran from what was right,
Pessimistic and abysmal,
Till we turned back to the Light.
Some sad parts we avoided,
Needed time for hearts to heal,
But God each trial rewarded,
And made His presence real.
Can’t run from consequences,
Sown with seeds we plant by choice,
Our investments and expenses,
We find we can rejoice,
‘Cause in the end there’s nothing wasted,
We learn to live and live to learn,
The good and bad we’ve tasted,
Things we run to and we spurn.
Part and parcel of the story,
God weaves His truth throughout,
Works all things for His glory,
Uses all without a doubt.
Makes miracles from messes,
Uses challenges to build,
Testimonies that He blesses,
And with His Spirit filled.
Then someone hears you tell it,
When you know the time is right,
And you don’t have to yell it,
For them to run into the light.
The story is anointed,
By the Author of the tale,
And clearly He’s appointed,
To use it without fail.
You took awhile to get here,
You’ve got a ways to go,
But no doubt God makes clear,
And wants us all to know,
That the story holds the power,
To snatch a soul from hell,
And with His love will shower,
The one you need to tell.
So tell the story gladly,
Of how God brought you through,
They need to hear it badly,
It’s just what we should do.
“And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their live so much they were afraid to die.” (Revelation 12:11, NLT)
There is great power in telling the story God gives us. The accuser of every brother and sister in Christ is defeated first by the blood of Jesus, second by the testimony they give, and third by their willingness to die for Christ. This, you see, is where God pours out the anointing of His Spirit the strongest. He always empowers the message of Jesus’ shed blood at the cross for our salvation. He always anoints the story of what Jesus has done for us individually. And He always baptizes with power those who are unconditionally surrendered to Him. Tell the story. It’s our highest honor and greatest responsibility.
Lord, help us tell the story of what You’ve done, in Jesus’ name.
