"Light"

On a cow hunt once, ran out of light,

That old sun set out of sight,

Dark and quickly came the night,

A long ways from the truck.

Kept on going, did not stop,

Gave my horse his head a lot,

Across dark pastures, walk no trot,

I’d get back out with luck.

But it wasn’t luck that brought me out,

But rather grace without a doubt,

The light bent low my way to scout,

I finally found my way.

You know the dark if you’ve been there,

So overwhelming gives a scare,

Don’t want to stay you wouldn’t dare,

And glad it ends okay.

Something great about the light,

Shining strong so clear and bright,

Illuminates the path that’s right,

If only we will see.

The same is true with heaven’s way,

He makes it clear, and come what may,

We can trust all He will say,

And what is meant to be.

Jesus said we light this world,

Banner’s love by us unfurled,

Break free the claws of satan curled,

Around the souls of men.

To wear His light as armor strong,

And fight this fight though ages long,

Light casts out all that is wrong,

And brings the lost sheep in.

So children of the light arise,

Live for truth and heaven’s prize,

Full of love and always wise,

We walk in fellowship.

Cleansed by the blood’s own healing stream,

Confessing all, He keeps us clean,

To fulfill the Kingdom’s dream,

It’s our eternal trip.

“But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7, NLT)

The Bible tells us that God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. When we receive Jesus He fills us with His presence and cleanses us from every sin. It’s our choice then to confess our sins, which means to agree with God, and walk in the light with Him. When we do we are enabled to have fellowship with others as well. Nothing good happens in spiritual darkness. Everything good happens in the light. Get there. Live there.

Lord, help us to walk in the light, in Jesus’ name.
