"Accuser"

The accuser’s an abuser,

Who never will fight fair,

He’s a loser and refuser,

To all who show they care,

‘Bout the Savior and His favor,

And the plan He has for all,

Our behavior will not waiver,

When accuser comes to call.

When the fight for what is right,

Gets intense we will depend,

In full sight, out in the light,

To receive the grace He’ll send.

Our testimony is not phony,

‘Cause we’re washed clean by the blood,

Hearts once stony, no baloney,

Used by God to stem the flood,

Of the devil, though he revels,

In the time that he has left,

God will level and no doubt settle,

Every lie and all his theft.

So remember, fan the ember,

Of the flame of truth and Spirit,

Every member filled with splendor,

Cause the trumpet we’ll soon hear it.

“Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, ‘It has come at last- salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth- the one who accuses them before God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.” (Revelation 12:10-11, NLT)

The devil is referred to here as our accuser. The title fits him well. While on this earth we must contend with his lies, accusations, deception and strategies. But the day is coming when he will be destroyed forever. Until then we overcome by the blood of Jesus, the word of our testimony, and no fear when it comes to dying. He cannot intimidate us with our sins because we’ve been washed clean. He can’t intimidate us with slander because we confess Jesus Christ as Lord. And he can’t threaten us physically because death is the doorway into God’s presence and we no longer fear it. We have the victory because we are God’s victory.

Lord, help us overcome the accuser, in Jesus’ name.
