"Climb"

There comes a time, when steep the climb,

We wonder if we can,

Complete the task, answer the ask,

Or find we’re short on sand.

We all get there, it’s how we fare,

When we can go no more,

But still must do, I’m telling you,

It’s what God’s strength is for.

When we run out, there is no doubt,

That’s when His pow’r comes through,

He helps the weak of whom we speak,

With ample grace it’s true.

And at that time in that steep climb,

We find what others know,

His faithfulness will always bless,

To all His children show.

We cannot earn but only learn,

It’s ours if we receive,

His promise real and we will feel,

If only we believe.

So step up, son, God’s will be done,

On earth as that above,

Don’t give up but fill your cup,

With the Spirit’s pow’r and love.

Cowboy on, let fear be gone,

His strength made perfect sure,

Where ours ends, His will begin,

And help us to endure.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7, NLT)

We all get to that place where we are drained of strength and are tempted to give up. The challenges can be overwhelming, and we wonder if we can keep going. In such times the enemy becomes our greatest bully, and will do all he can to intimidate us into inaction. It’s then that we are encouraged to remember that God has given us the Holy Spirit. Greater is He who is within us than he who is in the world. And the Spirit brings us the power, love and self-discipline that we need to make the steep climb. That which should be done can be done, but only in the power of God’s Holy Spirit. And because we have His power we need never fear. Cowboy up, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, help us claim Your power, in Jesus’ name.
