"Child of Light"

Don’t be that way, the Scriptures say,

Just leave that dark behind,

A child of light, let’s keep it right,

If we seek Him first we’ll find.

On the narrow trail we will not fail,

With the Spirit in the lead,

His pow’r He’ll give so we can live,

Drop weights that will impede.

We’re moving on with a gentle tone,

And kindness shown to all,

But resolute to bear God’s fruit,

And break through satan’s wall.

Stand up and fight, we’ll run in spite,

Of all this world promotes,

Hand to the plow, the time is now,

We live by Jesus’ quotes.

And to the end He will defend,

He’s with us all the way,

Lead on, our King, in everything,

In Jesus’ name we pray.

“Don’t participate in the things these people do. For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!” (Ephesians 5:7-8, NLT)

There is a marked difference between the behavior of those who are controlled by the darkness of this world and those who have received God’s light. We once were “full of darkness” but now that has changed! Praise God. The apostle counsels us to let the light shine through us and never return to the darkness, no matter how much it may threaten or oppose us. The light of God will never be extinguished and we now are filled with His presence. Live as a child of light, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, fill us with Your light, in Jesus’ name.
