"Cowboy Church"

Off yonder there some horses tied,

Their arena pen you know,

All set up the odds defied,

Just needed time to grow.

Folks gettin’ out of pickup trucks,

And cars of every kind,

Boots and hats and no one bucks,

When they ring the bell it’s time.

And yes I’ll have a doughnut please,

And a cowboy cup of joe,

Everyone is so at ease,

And welcoming you know.

Small kids runnin’ everywhere,

Old women’s hugs and grins,

Men shakin’ hands to show they care,

And the music then begins.

Foot- stompin’, clappin’ singin’,

A message from God’s Book,

The hope to all they’re bringin’,

They say come and take a look.

It’s cowboy church on Sunday,

And when the Spirit has His way,

We’ll be ready for our Monday,

And to live for God each day.

“Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor; not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:10-11, NAS)

Church is not a place or a building. It never was and never will be. Church is people connecting in spiritual relationships of love, support and accountability. We are better together, and if it’s not relational it’s not really church. Churching is teaming up to serve the Lord, our fellow Christians and anybody who needs help. There is strength in corporate worship that equips us to worship the Lord as a lifestyle. It happens at cowboy church and with anyone who’s willing to embrace the Spirit’s work.

Lord, help us church together well, in Jesus’ name.
