"Fellowship"

There’s lots of hugs and hollers,

Handshakes and kisses, too,

When we all get together,

And we know why it’s true.

These cowboys are our family,

We’re kin in ways that count,

No matter time or distance,

Can’t measure the amount,

Of love that flows between us,

And the fun we always have,

Encouragement and helpful truth,

Poured on wounds like salve.

We gather ‘cause we want to,

No obligation here,

Iron sharpens iron, you see,

And the Holy Spirit’s near.

The Good Book tells it clearly,

Don’t neglect to gather in,

And from this place of prayer and strength,

The Lord will surely send.

God’s raising up a posse,

No lone rangers in this mix,

‘Cause we can help each other,

Fight all the devil’s tricks.

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:25, NIV)

There is no question that we need each other to grow spiritually. And when we find true spiritual fellowship it is a great blessing. I’ve met lots of people who have become disenchanted with church because they had a negative experience. But this should not keep us from finding what we need. Just because someone has a bad dinner at a restaurant doesn’t mean all restaurants are bad. Real support and accountability help us fight our spiritual battles and know that the Lord strengthens us through brothers and sisters in Christ. Find that fellowship and you’ll be glad.

Lord, connect us to one another, in Jesus’ name.
