"Gallop"

At a gallop they go, the wrong way, you know,

With darkness obscuring their sight,

The trail that is wide, a chaotic ride,

Doing everything but what is right.

It’s not that I judge, or hold any grudge,

It’s just that I rode that way, too,

My life was all wrong, and, yes, far too long,

Running from all that is true.

But far as I ran, it was always God’s plan,

To gather and help me to turn,

Away from my sin and come home again,

To show me just what I should learn.

God has a long rope, and He pitches out hope,

To all those who need it the most,

It’s why Jesus died, and all evil defied,

No matter how far or how close.

Heaven still will pursue, all those with no clue,

Who blindly have wandered away,

It’s His specialty to give grace, you see,

And now can be their saving day.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.” (Luke 19:10, NLT)

Jesus surprised people, especially religious leaders, by His attention to those who were notorious sinners. Often it was the tax collector or some other immoral person who hosted Him. He connected with them to show compassion but also to lead them out of their sick lifestyles. In fact He even compared HImself to a physician who came not for the healthy but for the diseased. The Good News is that He seeks us in order to save us, even when we are running the other way. His love is proactive.

Lord, help us to realize the full impact of Your mission to save us, in Jesus’ name.
