"Games"
The games we play on any day,
Can lead us far afield,
The masks we wear from here to there,
Until our fate is sealed,
By evil lies and their disguise,
To keep us bound and blind,
Manipulate with reckless hate,
Until we’re left behind.
But God has said you aren’t yet dead,
With heart beat there is hope,
God’s word is true and He will do,
More than you need to cope.
Meets you there, I mean right where,
You are to bring you out,
To finally be, with honesty,
What God intends, no doubt.
All games aside and masks that hide,
Don’t need them anymore,
Identity restored you see,
And bound for heaven’s shore.
Hydrated life set free from strife,
Filled with the Spirit now,
Authentically to live and be,
God’s children hour by hour.
“But when someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:16-17, NLT)
Paul speaks of a veil that covers men’s minds that prevents them from understanding the Good News of Jesus Christ. But God is able to remove this veil, just as He helps us remove all our masks and game-playing strategies and live on purpose for Him. He frees us to claim our true, authentic spiritual identity in Christ, and restores us to God’s purpose. We are made more and more like Jesus as the Spirit does His transforming work. It’s the best way to live!
Lord, free us to be the people You created us to be, in Jesus’ name.
