"Heaven"
Dr. Graham said it years ago,
You’ll read someday I’ve died,
But don’t you dare believe it,
Just take it all in stride,
‘Cause I’ve just changed addresses,
From this earth to heaven above,
And it’s all because of Jesus,
And the wonder of God’s love.
Some of my greatest memories,
Are when Dr. Graham preached,
The message of salvation,
And the many thousands that he reached.
But with death and dying,
He maybe was the best,
To make you think about it,
Explained the heavenly rest.
And now that I’m an older man,
I’m feeling the same way,
One day you’ll hear that I am gone,
But this is what I say,
I may be absent from the body,
But I’ve crossed the great divide,
And entered into heaven,
With the Savior by my side.
The joy of my home going,
Should far outweigh the grief,
And the Spirit gives us comfort,
And alone can bring relief.
Heaven seems much closer,
That it ever has before,
I have no fear of dying,
Or what may be in store.
And if you’re still uncertain,
Please don’t hesitate,
To pray and call on Jesus,
Before it is too late.
He designed us for His presence,
Eternal seeds are deep within,
And the moment we surrender,
New life will then begin.
One day you’ll hear or read it,
That Brad has finally died,
But don’t you dare believe it,
‘Cause in heaven I’ll abide.
I’ll be right there with Billy,
And all who went before,
Thankful in God’s presence,
Safely home on heaven’s shore.
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.” (Colossians 3:1, NLT)
Our relationship with Jesus re-orders our entire perspective concerning life here and hereafter. We learn that this life is merely a rehearsal for heaven. We are practicing here what we will do forever there. Paul says to be heavenly minded, and when we are, earthly concerns will fall into place. Our priorities and investments should be eternal, and that’s exactly how the Holy Spirit leads us to live. We are heaven-bound with lots of heaven on the way!
Lord, help us set our sights on heaven, in Jesus’name.
