"Thankful"
The thankfulness I feel is real,
Not just emotion, see,
But worship that is Spirit-born,
And means so much to me.
A loving bride, horses to ride,
The heart of Texas home,
Long circle came at last to bring,
The Brazos’ sandy loam.
Blessings count from heaven’s fount,
The gratitude o’erflows,
Rehearsing our forever role,
The true believer knows,
The praise we raise in sacrifice,
Distractions put aside,
To glorify the Lord alone,
And energize our stride.
Sad songs gone from broken hearts,
Healed only by His grace,
Flows like a flood from deep within,
Inhabiting the space,
Of those who sing beneath the wing,
That shelters from the storm,
Heaven’s love protects us there,
His grip is our new norm.
So when they say on any day,
Let’s just praise His name,
Make the sacrifice of praise,
And all for Jesus’ fame.
“Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name.” (Hebrews 13:15, NLT)
A sacrifice of praise is the worship we give the Lord that sacrifices all that distracts our attention from giving Him glory. When we praise Him we turn the focus off our selves and only on who He is and what He does. He gets the glory! We are called to do this continually and verbally. it is the fruit of our lips that confesses our loyalty to Jesus. We belong to Him and our worship celebrates that eternal fact! Praise the Lord.
Lord, help us to continually offer You the sacrifice of praise, in Jesus’ name.
