"Nonsense"
It’s true, no lie, I really try,
To let the nonsense go,
Sometimes so deep I cannot keep,
My jeans rolled up, you know.
Amazing thing, no truth to ring,
But still they will opine,
Fools will dare, they’re everywhere,
Believe their spin is fine.
But God is near and His Word clear,
About what’s right and wrong,
The Spirit’s sword will still reward,
And shows us we belong.
And not to be deceived you see,
By imposters when they pose,
A godly form but power they scorn,
Stay clear of all of those.
And so what’s true we will pursue,
And leave the lies behind,
Call it quits on counterfeits,
Pray Lord, renew our minds.
Our lives changed and rearranged,
‘Cause Your truth sets us free,
Never stop, all weights we’ll drop,
We’re His eternally.
“Don’t copy the customs and behavior of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. They you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2, NLT)
The world’s values will lead us to hell But God will change our lives by renewing our minds. He transforms us from the inside out and Paul’s encouragement is to let Him. Did you get that? You don’t have to change yourself or make it happen through your own efforts. There is effort involved but it’s all about letting something happen. You can’t make it happen but you can let it happen. You can’t generate it but you can cooperate with it. And when you do your life becomes an expression of God’s will which Paul calls “good and pleasing and perfect.” Nothing beats God’s will.
Lord, change us by changing our minds, in Jesus’ name.
