"Untamed"
When we think of something wild, untamed,
It might be something bad,
But truthfully though oft unnamed,
It’s based on times we’ve had.
I think of it a different way,
That wild, untamed is good,
See if what I have to say,
Might convince you that you should.
The wildness of abundant life,
That Jesus came to give,
Delivers from chaotic strife,
An adventurous way to live.
The story of the ages,
The ultimate extreme,
Of eternity’s great pages,
And the grandest, golden dream,
Of God’s awesome rescue mission,
To set every prisoner free,
Bring to ultimate fruition,
His love for you and me.
So never think it’s boring,
It’s anything but tame,
The Lion of Judah roaring,
And Jesus is His name.
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” (John 10:10, NLT)
Jesus contrasted the work of the devil to His purpose. The enemy steals, kills, and destroys everything we value. Jesus gives a rich and satisfying life. It could be translated a super-abundant life! This is not the boring, legalism of a religious performance. Rather it is an adventurous relationship with the living God. Nothing could be more exciting and fulfilling. The enemy has convinced people otherwise, but they are deceived. The church has often misrepresented this experience, reducing it to something that must be endured and rarely, if ever, enjoyed. Dont’ fall for it! The legendary path of the true disciple is the ultimate pilgrimage of the wild at heart. Come on!
Lord, help us embrace the adventure of knowing You and making You known, in Jesus’ name.
